About the role#
Langan is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with our team in Miami or Fort Lauderdale to assist with the technical aspects of various geotechnical projects. This role involves a mix of field work, data analysis, and report preparation.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute field investigations, including logging borings and test pits.
- Collect samples, perform field tests, and record data.
- Observe foundation and earthwork construction to ensure work meets project plans.
- Solve field or laboratory problems as they arise.
- Prepare standard logs, field forms, and chain of custody documents.
- Perform engineering calculations and learn to use geotechnical software.
- Create report exhibits, figures, and plans using AutoCAD.
- Document field investigations and analytical results in technical reports.
- Conduct site reconnaissance and file reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year or advanced degree program in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Preference for students in their junior or senior year or those pursuing an MS degree.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Experience with geotechnical coursework.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- A valid driver license and reliable transportation for site visits.
