About the role#
Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is hiring a Geotechnical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Jacksonville, Florida. This role involves supporting geotechnical projects through field investigations, data analysis, and report preparation. You will work directly with leadership on site feasibility studies and construction observation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, including logging borings, collecting samples, and performing field tests.
- Observe foundation and earthwork construction to ensure it meets plans and specifications.
- Prepare standard logs, field forms, and chain of custody documentation.
- Perform engineering calculations and learn to use geotechnical software.
- Create report exhibits, figures, and plans using AutoCAD.
- Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
- Document field investigations and analytical results in formal reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year or advanced degree program in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Preference for students in their junior or senior year or those pursuing an MS degree.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
- Coursework in geotechnical engineering is preferred.
