About the role#
Lambda Legal hires law students for full-time summer internships. This position supports our work in impact litigation, public policy, and education. We focus on the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and those living with HIV. Interns work on-site at one of our regional offices.
What you'll do#
- Assist attorneys with litigation and policy tasks.
- Conduct legislative research and tracking.
- Investigate and draft documents for ongoing cases, prospective cases, and amicus curiae briefs.
- Research, draft, or edit public education publications.
- Help maintain and expand resources for our national legal Help Desk.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to public interest law.
- Awareness of and commitment to the concerns of the communities we serve.
- Interest in working within a racially- and gender-diverse environment.
- Familiarity with issues important to LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV is preferred.
- We prefer second- and third-year law students due to the independent nature of the work.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship. We ask applicants to seek outside funding from their law schools, but we provide compensation for students who cannot secure it or whose funding is insufficient.
