About the role#
Lake Country Veterinary Care offers a flexible externship and preceptorship program for DVM students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help prepare students for clinical work after graduation. Rotations typically last two to three weeks, though the program can accommodate durations between two and eight weeks. Participants will work under the supervision of a mentor doctor to gain experience in problem-solving, technical procedures, and client communication. A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Assist in the management of medical cases and provide wellness care.
- Scrub in to surgeries and assist in clinical procedures.
- Produce accurate medical records, including SOAPs, within daily practice time limits.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care while upholding professional and ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
