About the role#
We are looking for a Civil Designer Co-Op to join our Civil Engineering team. This position is for a student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering who wants to apply their classroom learning to professional projects. You will work under the supervision of Civil Engineers and other staff to support our design work.
What you'll do#
- Support Civil Engineering projects and help our clients reach their goals.
- Prepare design and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D while following internal quality standards.
- Assist with design studies, calculations, analysis, and project specifications.
- Coordinate Civil designs with other building systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and telecom.
- Participate in team meetings, value engineering, and field investigations.
- Help with construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings, preparing submittals, and responding to RFIs.
- Research building materials and stay current with new tools and industry products.
- Interface with various professional disciplines to coordinate project work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering degree program.
- Prior experience producing site or civil documents within an A/E or engineering design firm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to work on multiple assignments at once.
- Comfort working in teams and giving group presentations.
- Familiarity with building design and construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Experience with AASHTO ODOT standards, MicroStation GEOPAK, REVIT, or LEED criteria is a plus.
