Co-op/Intern Software Development - C++

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid internship opportunity for a Software Development student with a focus on C++. As an integral member of our core engineering team, you will work on the Maestro platform to help democratize the creation and extension of computations. This position is designed for students seeking an 8 or 12-month term starting in September 2026.

What you'll do#

• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from initial development through build, testing, and test automation.
• Develop high-quality, well-crafted code that delivers direct value to customers.
• Test the work of other team members and contribute to the development of automated tests.
• Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and cross-functional teams.
• Support a variety of special projects as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 3rd-year student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent program.
• A passion for writing maintainable, robust, and unit-test-covered code.
• Strong understanding of core software concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and multi-threading.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to established team processes.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp technical ideas.
• Experience with C++ is highly preferred, including practical knowledge of STL containers.
• Familiarity with Java, C#, TypeScript, network programming, cloud platforms, or Kubernetes is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
• Modality: Hybrid. If based in Ottawa, you are required to be in the office at least three days per week.
• Term: Fall 2026 start; 8 or 12-month duration.
• Compensation: $24.15 - $35.42 per hour, based on skills, education level, and experience.
