Kepler Communications is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to contribute to satellite onboard software, payload systems, IoT modules, and ground equipment. This full-time, paid internship is for the Fall 2026 term, offering 4 to 8 months of hands-on experience in a collaborative, on-site environment.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop reliable, high-quality software for next-generation satellites, Embedded Linux systems, and IoT modules.
- Develop firmware and drivers to support system requirements.
- Write thorough tests and technical documentation.
- Participate in software design and code review processes.
- Collaborate with electrical, digital design, and operations teams to define features and solidify system architecture.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or equivalent degree program, with plans to return to studies following the internship.
- At least 2 years of experience in embedded systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and strong software design skills, including algorithms, testing, and debugging.
- Experience with embedded operating systems and build systems, specifically OpenEmbedded/Yocto and FreeRTOS.
- Familiarity with Embedded Linux, including user-space development.
- Ability to effectively use git and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Experience with Python, computer networking, RTL (Verilog/VHDL), or hardware debugging tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers is considered an asset.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario (On-site at 24 Ward Street).
- Term: Fall 2026 (4-8 months).
- Compensation: Hourly rate ranging from $29.75 to $39.00 CAD.
