About the role#
This is a one-year apprenticeship program designed to build your skills in CNC operations. You will start on the first shift for training. After you complete the program and earn your Kennametal Certified CNC Machinist certificate, you will transition into a second or third shift position.
What you'll do#
- Complete online and on-the-job training to set up and run various CNC machines.
- Operate machine tools including mills, lathes, and grinders safely and efficiently.
- Secure cutting tools, fixtures, and materials onto machines.
- Read and interpret blueprints to guide your work.
- Inspect machined products using precision gaging to meet quality standards.
- Keep your workplace clean and organized.
- Enter data and complete documentation accurately.
What you'll need#
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in basic math, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 33 pounds.
- A safety-focused mindset and the ability to follow written or verbal instructions.

- This position is located in New Market, Virginia.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
