Part Time Student - Industrial Engineer

About the role#

This position is part of a year-round student program at the John Deere Waterloo Works Drivetrain facility. This role is designed to support regular full-time staff by assisting with engineering functions and process improvements while maintaining an academic schedule.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation, including output standards used for wage performance pay plans, product costing, and capacity planning.
• Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.
• Utilize electronic tools to perform engineering functions, including methods change tracking and reporting.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Must be a full-time student at a U.S. accredited college or university with a graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Ability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours during the summer semester.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in cross-functional team environments.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
