Part Time Student- Industrial Engineer

About the role#

This is a part-time student position within the Factory Engineering function at the John Deere Waterloo Works Drivetrain facility. This role is designed to run year-round, allowing students to work in parallel with their academic schedule.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation, including output standards for wage performance plans, product costing, and capacity planning.
• Utilize electronic tools to perform engineering functions, such as methods change tracking and report generation.
• Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Must be a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college or university with a graduation date of May 2028 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Ability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer semester.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, specifically Outlook and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work in cross-functional team environments.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Location: Waterloo, Iowa.
• Modality: On-site; must be able to commute to the facility daily.
• Term: Summer 2026 and ongoing year-round.
• Compensation: This is a paid position.
