About the role#
This is an unpaid, full-time internship with the Giga initiative at the International Telecommunication Union. You will support the design and development of digital interfaces for Giga platforms and applications. The role is remote and operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Design user-centred digital interfaces and workflows for Giga-ITU products.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate concepts.
- Enhance usability, visual consistency, and accessibility across digital products.
- Participate in user journey mapping and interaction design.
- Support the maintenance and evolution of the Giga design system and UI component libraries.
- Implement responsive user interfaces using modern web technologies.
- Develop reusable frontend components while supporting compliance with accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, and product stakeholders during brainstorming, design reviews, and agile processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in interaction design, HCI, computer science, software or web engineering, graphic design, or industrial design.
- Recent graduates within six months of the start of the internship are also eligible.
- A portfolio of academic, personal, or freelance projects that demonstrates both user-centred design and frontend implementation.
- Advanced level of English.
- Must be a citizen of an ITU Member State.
- Must be under 30 years of age, though exceptions may be considered for Ph.D. candidates.
- No professional work experience is required.
