About the role#
The Housing Assistant Intern supports the housing program in Salt Lake City, assisting refugees as they navigate the U.S. rental system. This role involves direct client interaction, helping new arrivals settle into their homes and gain self-sufficiency. Interns work closely with the Housing and Case Management teams to address housing-related needs and expand housing access initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Conduct post-move-in home visits to ensure successful housing setup and adjustment.
- Assist clients with move-in logistics, including setting up utilities and completing change of address forms.
- Educate clients on lease terms, rent payment processes, maintenance requests, and basic tenant rights.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes for all client interactions.
- Collaborate with teams to address housing concerns and assist with the HEAT program utility payment support.
- Support general operations, including outreach, apartment searches, donation collection, deliveries, and front desk support.
What you'll need#
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Clear and effective communication skills in English.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
- Ability to lift heavy items and stand for long periods throughout the day.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a cross-cultural environment.
- Preferred majors include Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or Political Science.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Term: Summer 2026 (3-4 months).
- Commitment: 15-20 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer position.
