About the role#
The Community Engagement Intern supports the Community Engagement Coordinator in Richmond, Virginia, during the Fall 2026 term. This role focuses on outreach, event planning, and the management of in-kind contributions to assist clients. The position requires a commitment to supporting both the Richmond and Charlottesville offices, with the primary focus on the Richmond community. This is an unpaid, full-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with outreach to current and potential program partners, including cold calling organizations and faith-based communities.
- Manage outreach efforts, track progress, and quantify results.
- Provide support for special events, including the creation of invitations and programs.
- Contribute to social media accounts, newsletters, and community presentation materials.
- Support the in-kind contributions program by coordinating donation drives, maintaining inventory databases, and fulfilling donation requests.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, or a recent graduate in Communications, Human Resources, Graphic Design, Business Administration, or Sociology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with data entry and managing databases.
- Familiarity with basic video editing and graphic design software, specifically Canva.
- An interest in learning about the Greater Richmond community.
- Ability to be detail-oriented, organized, and reliable.
