About the role#
Intel is seeking a Software Engineering PhD Intern to join the TCAD Process Reliability Modeling team. You will work on computational software solutions that support semiconductor technology development, specifically focusing on areas like chip-package interactions, thermal transport, and thin films development. This role is for students interested in applying research expertise to complex engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and optimize software for engineering and research applications.
- Create simulation capabilities using numerical methods such as finite element or level sets.
- Build modeling methodologies to address device and interconnect process, module, and reliability problems.
- Define criteria to determine proper inputs and validate simulation results.
- Work with software engineers, researchers, and domain experts to deliver scalable solutions.
- Document technical work and present findings to project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time PhD student in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related semiconductor field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA in college coursework.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in C, C++, Python, or equivalent languages.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and software development skills.
- Experience with TCAD or atomistic simulation tools is preferred.
- Hands-on experience developing or using finite element solvers is preferred.
- Experience with physics-based modeling or machine learning for solid mechanics, thermal management, or manufacturing processes is a plus.
