About the role#
The New Mexico Advanced Packaging Technology Manufacturing plant offers a year-round internship for students interested in working as a Manufacturing Technician. This role supports manufacturing operations by performing wafer movement, equipment setup, and process monitoring. Interns gain hands-on experience by troubleshooting machinery and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
What you'll do#
- Perform equipment setup and monitor production processes.
- Conduct quality checks and assist in troubleshooting machinery.
- Optimize production efficiency to meet output goals.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Perform functions associated with wafer movement within the factory.
- Work in a clean room environment, requiring the use of coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Lift up to 35 pounds (18 kg) approximately 4 times per day.
- Perform tasks requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an AAS degree or certification program in Automotive Technology, Aviation Technology, Electrical Trades, HVAC, Industrial Automation Technology (Mechatronics), Machine Tool Technology, or a related field.
- At least 1 month of experience with Microsoft applications such as Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work part-time (20-32 hours per week during the school year, up to 40 hours per week during breaks).
- Willingness to work assigned factory shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Preferred: Knowledge of electronics, equipment troubleshooting, installation, repair, and operations.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with auto repair, welding, soldering, robotics, or schematics and diagrams.
