About the role#
The Chemist Intern program provides a structured experience for students to gain professional skills within our chemical manufacturing environment. You will work under the direction of a Chemist mentor to support daily laboratory operations and specific project assignments. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Port Neches, Texas, scheduled for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical support to your assigned area.
- Assist chemists with project work and day-to-day lab tasks.
- Provide regular status updates to your mentor or engineer.
- Present your project assignments to the Site Leadership Team at the end of the term.
- Ensure all activities comply with the integrated management system, including safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives and complete all required training.
- Collaborate with team members and support company goals.
- Follow instructions and perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university.
- Junior or Senior standing by the end of Spring 2025.
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to obtain or possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
- Proficiency with email, the internet, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge of basic chemical plant manufacturing principles and analysis methods.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to research, analyze complex information, and solve problems.
- Ability to build relationships across the organization and maintain awareness of safety precautions.
