About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Anaheim, California. Over the course of 10-12 weeks, you will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting active projects, including healthcare-focused MEP work such as hospital renovations and research facilities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with mechanical system design tasks while following company standards and project codes.
- Research equipment and supporting resources for project use.
- Coordinate design and schedule requirements with architectural, structural, electrical, and equipment-supplier teams.
- Document meetings, design decisions, and client instructions while tracking project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
- Support services defined by contract agreements and work within project budgets.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Technical skills in AutoCAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
