    About the role#

    US Valve is seeking a Mechanical Design Intern to support the development of product application tools for our check valve product line. This project-based, part-time internship focuses on applying engineering fundamentals to real-world products, including evaluating valve behavior under various flow rates, orientations, and mechanical forces. You will be expected to take ownership of workstreams, document findings, and present your results to the Engineering team and Senior Leadership.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the development of engineering models and datasets describing check valve performance.
    • Develop simplified, first-principles models to analyze the effects of gravity, installation orientation, spring force, and valve geometry.
    • Translate valve geometry into mathematical or simplified analytical models.
    • Create visualizations, such as graphs and curves, to describe relationships between variables.
    • Document assumptions, limitations, and findings into structured datasets.
    • Assist with engineering activities including creating and editing modeling files, prototype assembly, testing, and root cause investigations.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a college degree program (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering) with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
    • Must meet one of the following criteria:
      • Currently enrolled and in good standing at a Maryland higher education institution.
      • Graduated from a Maryland higher education institution within the last 12 months.
      • Maryland resident with a degree who was honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, or a Reserve component within the last 18 months.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
    • SolidWorks experience is preferred.
