The Federal Governmental Relations Internship for Fall 2026 offers an opportunity to support the government relations staff at Idaho National Laboratory. This position involves reporting to the Director of Federal Government Affairs and contributing to the laboratory's engagement with federal entities.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative and research support to the government relations team.
- Coordinate and support meetings for the INL-DC office.
- Attend and provide summaries of congressional hearings relevant to INL.
- Track relevant media and legislative activity.
- Complete a legislative research project in collaboration with your mentor.
- Assist with office administrative tasks, including visitor support and reimbursements.
What you'll need#
- Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Degree pursuit or completion in Political Science, International Studies, English, or a related field.
- Minimum overall 3.0 GPA.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT).
- Submission of a current resume or CV, unofficial transcripts, and a current class schedule with credit count.

- Location: Idaho Falls, ID.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position with rates varying by education level (Undergraduate: $26.94–$32.41/hour; Masters/Pre-Candidacy PhD: $35.34–$37.73/hour; Post-Candidacy PhD: $36.83–$41.29/hour).
- Benefits: Paid holiday time off and potential travel reimbursement for eligible interns.
