About the role#
Hyperion Materials & Technologies is hiring a Co-Op Qualified Operator Trainee in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will perform grinding operations to create finished cemented carbide parts for the beverage canning industry. You must maintain a safety-first mindset and follow all quality and environmental standards while working on the production floor.
What you'll do#
- Read drawings, process sheets, and instructions to determine the work required.
- Select the correct wheel to reach the specified surface finish.
- Set up and operate OD machines using the necessary fixtures and wheels.
- Perform inspections and gauging before, during, and after the production process.
- Record inspection data in software and maintain quality measures.
- Keep your assigned work area clean and organized.
- Follow standard work instructions and communicate any quality concerns to the technical team.
- Manage multiple machines and balance production priorities.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to interpret complicated technical drawings and instructions.
- Skill in using micrometers and other quality inspection equipment.
- Experience with production management tools like LEAN and material management systems.
- Ability to read at a technical level and follow verbal or written directions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Capacity to lift or move up to 20 pounds with assistance.

- This role is located in Latrobe, PA.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
- You must be available to work overtime, including weekends, during periods of high order volume.
