About the role#
HRI, INC. is hiring an Estimating Intern to work in State College, Pennsylvania. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling term. You will work under direct supervision to assist with bid proposal estimates for civil and heavy highway projects.
What you'll do#
- Gather and compile data for bid proposals.
- Use software to take off quantities, perform field measurements, and extract information from project plans.
- Research material costs and historical data like subcontracts and productivity reports.
- Help create project updates and bid package documents.
- Coordinate and manage project files after a sale or low bid.
- Maintain company equipment and handle other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- You must be working toward an Associates or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Above average organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience with estimating and construction, specifically in excavation, paving, underground utility, site development, or heavy highway projects, is preferred.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and read engineering drawings.
