Howard Center offers undergraduate internships for students in mental health and developmental fields. These roles are designed to provide instruction and experience in human services, with placements tailored to the student's program requirements and supervisor availability. Interns may work in school, community, residential, or clinical settings supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, and developmental needs. Please note that Howard Center does not grant summer-only internships unless they are part of an ongoing placement.
What you'll do#
- Provide supportive counseling or therapy to clients in individual, group, school, or community settings.
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide care coordination, crisis intervention, and stabilization.
- Implement academic, behavioral, and social programming tailored to client needs.
- Participate in treatment teams, handle referrals, and manage follow-up care.
- Assist with clinical documentation and record keeping.
- Shadow staff members and complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate program in Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or Biomedical Sciences.
- An active internship affiliation agreement between your educational institution and Howard Center.
- Adherence to all program requirements defined by your school's educational contract, including specific goals and objectives for the duration of the internship.
- Compliance with requirements regarding internship duration, supervision, clinical documentation, and driving.
