Internship - Undergraduate Level

About the role#

Howard Center offers internships for students in mental health and developmental fields to fulfill degree requirements. Interns are paired with supervisors based on program needs and the specific services provided to clients. Opportunities may be school-based, community-based, residential, or clinical, focusing on individuals with mental health, substance use, and developmental needs. Please note that summer placements are not granted, with exceptions only for students whose pre-approved internship duration overlaps with summer months. Applications are limited to students from schools with an active affiliation agreement with Howard Center.

What you'll do#

• Provide supportive counseling or therapy in individual, group, school, or community settings.
• Participate in clinical documentation and record keeping.
• Assist with assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, crisis intervention, and stabilization.
• Implement academic, behavioral, and social programming tailored to client needs.
• Participate in treatment teams, referrals, and follow-up care.
• Shadow staff members and assist with special projects.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a program that maintains an active affiliation agreement with Howard Center.
• Adherence to requirements defined by the educational contract with your school, including specific goals and objectives.
• Completion of an educational contract that clearly outlines the internship duration.
• Commitment to clinical documentation practices and participation in required supervision.
