Summer Internship - Bridge to Medicine & Research Program

About the role#

The Bridge to Medicine & Research Program is a full-time, paid summer internship designed to provide students with professional experience in a clinical and research environment. Interns work under general supervision to support departmental projects, gain feedback from practicing professionals, and contribute to the daily operations of the Houston Methodist Academic Institute.

What you'll do#

• Coordinate projects as assigned by program administrators or department leadership.
• Proactively seek out learning opportunities and new assignments within your assigned department.
• Contribute to the improvement of department employee engagement scores.
• Maintain company records in accordance with established policies and quality standards.
• Identify and escalate issues or opportunities for process improvements.
• Collaborate with team members, clinicians, and internal stakeholders to support departmental goals.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program related to Business Administration, Health Administration, Communications, Biomedical Sciences, or Nursing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
• Excellent organizational skills and a detail-oriented approach to tasks.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professional discretion.
• Capacity to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and act as a self-motivated team player.
