About the role#
Houston City College is hiring for the Student Intern Pool within the IT Networks department. This is a paid, full-time internship opportunity. You will work on-site in Houston, Texas, under direct supervision to assist the department with routine clerical tasks. This position operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
You will help keep daily department operations running smoothly. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Answering the telephone and handling multiple lines.
- Responding to routine office inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Operating office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, typewriters, and calculators.
- Typing correspondence and other documents from notes or rough drafts.
- Scanning and processing departmental documents.
- Managing all incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assisting with special projects and providing support to other areas as needed.
What you'll need#
- You must be a high school student at least 16 years of age.
- An understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- You should possess good written and oral communication skills.
- You must be able to communicate courteously and effectively.
- One year of experience in an office environment is preferred.
