About the role#
High Tech High is hiring 3-5 School-based Mental Health Interns to provide counseling support across our campuses. This is a part-time role requiring 25-30 hours per week. Interns work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor, who provides at least one hour of individual or two hours of group supervision each week.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling to help students manage emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on student needs.
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings to contribute to student planning.
- Collaborate with staff to perform ERMHS assessments.
- Act as a student advocate to coordinate services or resolve crises.
- Refer families to community resources and serve as a liaison for medical or psychiatric needs.
- Conduct in-service education for other school professionals.
- Maintain accurate treatment records, reports, and student confidentiality.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and track student progress.
What you'll need#
- A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling.
- A valid California license as an Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or proof of application for the license within 90 days of hire.
- Active progress toward LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT licensure.
- Ability to assess student needs and work independently under supervision.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and community agencies.
- Proficiency with technology and preparing professional reports or presentations.
- A California Pupil Personnel Services credential, experience in a California school district, experience with at-risk students, or bilingual skills are preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site at schools across California.
- The pay rate is $28.45 to $34.69 per hour.
- This is an hourly, non-contract position without benefits.
