About the role#
As a Recovery Coach Intern, you will provide peer support to individuals navigating recovery within their communities. This role is part of our Community Based Recovery Support program. You will work 20 hours per week in a part-time capacity. We offer this position on a rolling basis, and it is a paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide emotional and social support while building collaborative relationships with members.
- Help members identify recovery goals, create wellness plans, and build life skills.
- Assist members in navigating medical, behavioral health, and social service systems, including child welfare and criminal justice.
- Support members with practical tasks like benefit applications, scheduling appointments, and finding transportation.
- Act as a recovery advocate by accompanying members to meetings and helping them develop self-advocacy skills.
- Document patient engagements in our electronic health record system.
- Collaborate with clinicians and navigation teams to coordinate care and referrals.
- Participate in one hour of individual supervision and two hours of virtual group supervision each week.
- Provide temporary transportation to help members reach their recovery goals.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Personal lived experience with substance use and recovery.
- Completion of the Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches trainings.
- A valid driver license and ownership of a car.
- Knowledge of professional boundaries and ethics in peer support.
- Ability to work with people from diverse legal, social, and cultural backgrounds.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn our medical record systems.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese are a plus.

- This is an on-site role with locations in Brockton, New Bedford, Hyannis, Plymouth, and Taunton, Massachusetts.
- The position is part-time at 20 hours per week.
