About the role#
The Cardiac Sonography Student works under the direction of specialized physicians, residents, or certified technologists. You will focus on patient safety while performing examinations within your legal scope of practice. This role involves preparing patients, managing equipment, and supporting the diagnostic team to ensure high-quality care for the patients of Marion County.
What you'll do#
- Schedule patients and perform examinations of designated body regions.
- Review requisitions, medical charts, and record patient oral history.
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure they are comfortable and informed.
- Prepare patients for exams by positioning them and selecting the correct equipment.
- Adjust controls during procedures to capture optimal imaging results.
- Identify and record test results and report atypical findings to your supervisor.
- Transport imaging equipment to patient bedsides when required.
- Maintain daily supplies and assist physicians with special exams, emergency care, and research projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
- Current enrollment as a Bachelor student in an additional radiologic technologist modality program.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists licensure for advanced certifications.
- Valid state license from the ISBH for Mammography, Computed Tomography, and MRI.
- Current CPR certification.
- Working knowledge of EPIC and PACS systems.
- Understanding of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, and ultrasound physics.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and handle heavy workloads.
- Capability to secure vascular access for contrasted studies.
- Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and age-specific growth and development principles.

- This position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Work is performed on-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
