Structural Engineering Student

About the role#

Hatch is seeking a Structural Engineering Student for a full-time internship starting in September 2026 at our Trail, British Columbia office. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to complex energy and industrial projects while gaining hands-on experience in a professional office environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, design calculations, material takeoffs, technical specifications, and reports.
• Support intermediate and senior engineers during structural inspections, field visits, and site activities.
• Utilize CAD tools for 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
• Develop FEM models using analytical tools under the supervision of senior staff.
• Provide support for progress reporting, project assessment, and coordination with field staff.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year student in Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
• Successful completion of or enrollment in structural engineering coursework.
• Familiarity with CAD and design software (such as MathCAD, Excel, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, MicroStation, or AutoCAD) is considered an asset.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and interpersonal skills.
