About the role#
This position is for an experienced Real Estate Attorney to join an NYC law firm practice focused on cooperative and condominium law. You will act as lead counsel for a portfolio of 30 to 50 plus co-op and condo boards.
What you'll do#
- Advise managing agents and board members on legal needs and governance matters.
- Attend and manage board meetings, often in the evenings, to provide real-time legal counsel.
- Draft and revise bylaws, proprietary leases, declarations, and house rules.
- File offering plans, no-action letters, and amendments with the NYS Attorney General.
- Handle shareholder and member disputes, election issues, and regulatory compliance.
What you'll need#
- 7 to 10 plus years of experience practicing condo and co-op law in NYC.
- Practical experience with governance, AG filings, and client-facing board representation.
- Ability to work independently and manage high-pressure situations.
- Clear, confident communication skills for working with sophisticated boards and stakeholders.
