About the role#
Harvester Veterinary Hospital of Burr Ridge offers a clinical externship for students enrolled in an accredited DVM program. This program provides hands-on experience in a small animal practice setting to support your transition from the classroom to professional practice. You will be assigned a mentor who provides instruction, guidance, and a final written evaluation of your performance to meet your college requirements.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and conduct physical examinations.
- Assist with the management of medical cases and deliver wellness care.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans alongside your mentor.
- Participate in surgical procedures.
- Build client communication skills and refine your technical abilities.
- Document patient care by producing medical records (SOAPs) within the time constraints of a daily practice.
