About the role#
The GuideWell IT Summer Internship program offers college juniors and seniors a hands-on look at the business processes and technology systems that power our organization. You will work on real projects, receive on-the-job training, and partner with a mentor from your specific team. Throughout the program, you will meet with leaders across the technology organization and present your work to the Florida Blue CIO and Tech Vice Presidents at the conclusion of the term.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned track, your responsibilities may include:
- Design, build, and deploy solutions to solve business problems using Generative AI platforms.
- Develop and implement policies to safeguard company data, databases, and information systems.
- Work with infrastructure as code, networking, automation, data storage, and security.
- Collaborate with red-team and blue-team members to address cybersecurity challenges.
- Perform data analytics, business intelligence, and data quality assessments.
- Design, develop, and deploy data analytics models and algorithms.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Develop new applications and define business requirements.
- Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and testers to guide projects from concept to production.
- Identify and resolve application defects.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Biology degree program at an accredited college or university.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Ability to commit to working at least 30 hours per week.
- Basic PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Basic programming knowledge, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or other Object-Oriented programming experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on team collaboration.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to changing environments.
- Creative and innovative thinking skills.
- Specific technical proficiencies may include Python, SQL, R, Linux commands, version control systems like Git, and experience with database management systems or front-end/back-end frameworks.
