About the role#
Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital offers an externship program for DVM students. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. We provide mentorship and evaluation to help you meet the learning objectives defined by your college program. Each student receives a $250 weekly stipend.
What you'll do#
Under the supervision of a mentor doctor, you will participate in daily patient care. Your responsibilities include:
- Gathering patient histories
- Performing physical examinations
- Assisting in the management of medical cases
- Providing wellness care
- Producing appropriate medical records (SOAPs)
- Scrubbing into surgeries and developing diagnostic plans
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Current professional liability insurance
- A professional approach to patient care and team interactions
Location & details#
This position is located in Hewitt, New Jersey. The program is on-site and full-time. Rotations typically last two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks depending on your curriculum. Your schedule will include a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.
