About the role#
Gray West Construction is seeking a student intern to join our Project Services Department in Santa Ana. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry while balancing your academic schedule. You will work directly with our teams to support project management and coordination efforts.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Services and Construction teams with daily overflow tasks.
- Manage project documents, data, and subcontractor contact information.
- Assist with the administration of subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Collect and track compliance items such as Certificates of Insurance, W-9s, contractor licenses, and releases.
- Help prepare project close-out packages.
- Support change management, drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Communicate with subcontractors via phone and maintain professional relationships.
- Keep the Project Accounting Manager and Project Coordination Manager updated on project status and potential issues.
- Work alongside a Project Manager to experience the role of a Project Engineer on an actual project.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a local college or university.
- Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of office experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Strong time management skills, punctuality, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal communication, grammar, and spelling.
- Professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to work collaboratively with different personalities.
- A valid driver's license.
- A strong desire to succeed and grow in the construction field.
