About the role#
Geotab is looking for an Embedded Developer Intern to join the Engine Data Reliability team for a 12 to 16 month term starting in January 2027. You will assist with firmware releases for embedded and IoT devices while gaining experience in GPS, modem, accelerometer, and vehicle data technologies. This is a full-time, paid position based on a 37.5-hour work week.
What you'll do#
- Implement new logic into GO device firmware using C.
- Write SQL queries and Python scripts to analyze data from Google BigQuery to determine device health.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of GO device firmware and module functionality.
- Write unit tests and perform integration and system-level testing in real and simulated vehicles.
- Collaborate with the Embedded Systems, Solution Engineering, and Software Development teams.
- Adhere to coding standards, perform peer QA, and conduct code reviews.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for your areas of responsibility.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of C and C++ in an embedded software context.
- Proficiency in modern scripting languages like Python.
- Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and design patterns for resource-constrained systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities.
- Knowledge of RTOS development is considered an asset.

- Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Winter 2027 (12-16 months).
- Compensation: $33-$39 CAD per hour.
