About the role#
The Office of Financial Aid at the Armstrong Campus is seeking a Work Study Student to serve as a Research and Data Management Assistant for the fall 2026 term. This role supports the United Way of the Coastal Empire 211 resource database by verifying and organizing information on community services. You will gain experience in applied research, data management, and professional communication while helping connect individuals with essential community resources.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to collect and verify accurate data for regional use.
- Communicate with agency partners to gather and confirm resource information.
- Identify and document new agencies or programs for the database.
- Research community impact best practices to support strategic planning.
- Generate reports and analyze trends related to service usage and community needs.
- Perform data quality assurance, including record cleanup and maintenance.
- Support data visualization and historical recordkeeping efforts.
- Assist with 211 client data entry and the development of internal documentation.
- Help maintain standard operating procedures and map out workflows for systems development.
- Assist with site visit planning, special projects, and events.
- Support intern training, onboarding, and engagement efforts.
- Alert your supervisor to service delivery gaps or challenges and propose improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least six undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
- Federal Work-Study eligibility.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- A strong interest or experience in research.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to consistently exhibit engaging customer service.
- Ability to support various constituencies served by the University.
- Preferred: Familiarity with SharePoint, database platforms, pivot tables, and dashboards.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and visualization tools like Power BI.
Location & details#
- Location: Savannah, Georgia (off-campus).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Pay: $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Up to 12 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Modality: On-site.
