About the role#
The JA Discovery Center is hiring a Dulany Waters Leadership Scholar for the Fall 2026 term. This student assistant role focuses on facilitating capstone simulations for middle school students, specifically the JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs. You will work on-site at the Savannah campus to guide students through these experiences while providing support to visitors, teachers, and volunteers.
What you'll do#
- Coach and engage groups of 5-10 middle school students during each simulation session.
- Lead discussions on life lessons and help students navigate their daily simulation activities.
- Provide customer service to all visitors at the JA Discovery Center.
- Work up to 20 hours per week, with shifts available Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least six undergraduate credit hours or three graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and human relations skills.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Ability to consistently provide engaging customer service and support various University constituencies.
- Commitment to adhering to all University policies and procedures.
Location & details#
- Location: Savannah, Georgia.
- Compensation: $12.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Ability to work a full shift at least two days per week is required. Schedules are flexible based on availability.
