About the role#
The Department of Continuing & Professional Education is hiring a Program Assistant for the Fall 2026 term. This part-time position is located on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah. You will support the planning and delivery of various programs, including conferences, youth events, and professional training.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of conferences, youth programs, community programs, professional development, and special events.
- Provide customer service to participants, instructors, presenters, clients, and families.
- Assist with participant registration, check-in, check-out, and attendance tracking.
- Prepare, organize, and distribute program materials, name badges, and participant packets.
- Handle classroom and event setup and breakdown.
- Provide on-site logistical support and communicate with staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Maintain program documentation, including attendance records, forms, and evaluations.
- Perform administrative duties such as copying, filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Monitor youth participants to support their safety and engagement.
- Accompany participants during activities, field trips, meals, and transitions.
- Assist with marketing, outreach, and maintaining clean workspaces.
- Follow all University policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
- A valid driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment.
- Previous experience supporting programs, conferences, events, camps, or community activities.
- Experience providing customer service or administrative support.
- Experience updating and maintaining community calendars.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with organizational and human relations abilities.
- Ability to support the various constituencies served by the University.
Location & details#
- Location: Armstrong Campus, Savannah, GA.
- Pay: $14.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during peak season, with a flexible schedule that may include occasional evenings, early mornings, or weekends.
- Requirements: This position is required to drive and is a position of trust.
