About the role#
Georgia Southern University is hiring a Lab Assistant for the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics on the Statesboro Campus. This part-time, paid position begins in Fall 2026. You will work up to 18 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
What you'll do#
- Support the chemistry department instructor.
- Answer student questions during lab sessions.
- Grade lab reports.
- Assist with safety protocols.
- Keep the laboratory and equipment clean and organized.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in at least six undergraduate credit hours or three graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
- Completion of at least 3 hours in Chemistry.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide helpful customer service and support various university constituencies.
- Organizational and human relations skills.
- Ability to follow university policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour.
