About the role#
As a Simulation AI/ML Engineer intern, you will partner with senior engineers to deliver key components of the evaluation strategy for autonomous vehicle programs. You will scale the testing and evaluation of the self-driving stack by applying AI/ML techniques to software solutions. Your work will directly support the iteration and validation of the self-driving stack.
What you'll do#
- Apply AI/ML techniques to scale testing, classify autonomy performance, and mine critical scenarios, including human-in-the-loop integration.
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate ML models into simulation tests and evaluation pipelines.
- Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code across the simulation infrastructure.
- Define problem statements and implement optimal, tradeoff-aware solutions that address edge cases.
- Contribute to design and code reviews while maintaining clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ramp up quickly on the codebase and domain to deliver assigned tasks efficiently.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Must have at least one additional quarter or semester of school remaining following the internship.
- Solid understanding of modern machine learning techniques with demonstrated coursework, research, or projects.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Exposure to deep learning architectures like Transformers, CNNs, or diffusion models.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or Keras.
- Background in robotics and computer vision.
- Familiarity with multimodal learning or working with sensor data.
- Knowledge of systems programming languages like C++ or Java is a plus.
- Intent to return to a degree program after the internship ends.
