About the role#
General Motors is looking for creative students to join the 2027 Summer Internship program within the Creative Design team. This program focuses on both interior and exterior vehicle design. You will work alongside industry experts to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the development of future transportation solutions. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Create new and unique design concepts.
- Produce perspective sketches and renderings to communicate design ideas.
- Develop two-dimensional and three-dimensional mock-ups of proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with studio engineers, modelers, and fabrication personnel to build scale models.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Transportation Design, or Automotive Design.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer of 2027.
- Proficiency in Photoshop or comparable digital sketch software.
- Strong sketching skills covering perspective, shading, proportions, and line quality.
- Experience with 3D digital software such as Blender, Sub-D, or Alias.
- A portfolio featuring at least three unique automotive or industrial design projects, including examples of concept development from 2D to 3D.

- Compensation: $6,100 monthly.
