About the role#
This paid summer externship offers nursing students the chance to gain hands-on experience in reproductive endocrinology. You will work alongside experienced nurses in an outpatient ambulatory setting, blending clinical practice with professional mentorship. The program runs for 10 weeks, typically requiring 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN preceptor.
- Function as an active member of the nursing team.
- Identify, observe, and document the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients.
- Report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- Monitor blood glucose, urine, stool, and sputum.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and help with patient transfers and transport.
- Obtain specimens and maintain their integrity.
- Transport non-controlled medications as needed.
- Participate in three expanded observational experiences.
- Engage in patient safety improvement programs, including identifying potential error points and attending safety education.
- Report serious events and incidents according to hospital policy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Status as a student entering your senior year.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- A resume must be attached to your application.
