About the role#
GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term to support environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting projects. This is a full-time, paid position based in the Mount Laurel, New Jersey office. You will work alongside engineers, contractors, and clients to assist with project tasks, with a requirement to travel to project sites as needed.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with data collection, management, and review for environmental projects.
- Perform field tasks, including the description and classification of soil samples, as well as soil and groundwater sample collection.
- Report daily progress and field issues to your task supervisor.
- Prepare technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
- Create project drawings using AutoCAD and/or GIS software.
- Perform field work in various weather conditions as required.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication, writing, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within project teams.
- A valid USA state driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD, as well as a 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, are considered pluses.
- Previous experience with soil characterization and sampling is a plus.
