Telecommunications Intern (Future Opening)

About the role#

The Telecommunications Internship program at GCI Communication Corp. provides students with hands-on experience in a real-world business environment. Interns work alongside professionals to develop a project aligned with their interests and departmental needs, gaining practical knowledge while supporting the organization’s mission.

What you'll do#

• Complete assigned projects in accordance with directions, timeframes, scope, and budget.
• Produce a well-written project report outlining the steps taken and conclusions reached.
• Maintain a weekly log of activities, including contacts, meetings, and references.
• Meet with a mentor weekly to review project progress.
• Participate in research, analysis, and report generation.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment as a high school junior or senior, or as a college student.
• A minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Must be at least 14 years of age and adhere to Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), SharePoint, and related business software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Reliability and commitment to attendance, including potential availability on weekends, holidays, or outside standard hours when necessary.
• Academic background in Business Administration, Communications, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
