About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in mental health services, including in-home therapy, behavior support, outpatient care, and family stabilization. You will work directly with individuals and families to support their well-being while gaining exposure to various clinical settings.
What you'll do#
- Deliver mental health services in client homes and conduct assessments to build treatment plans.
- Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and direct support to families.
- Collaborate with social workers, psychiatrists, and case managers.
- Implement behavior management strategies and develop support plans based on functional assessments.
- Teach positive behavior techniques to individuals and families while monitoring behavior data.
- Support mental health professionals in outpatient settings by assisting with intake assessments and therapeutic groups.
- Help families access community resources and conduct home visits to assess family dynamics.
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation for all interventions and client progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant degree program, such as psychology, or recent graduation.
- A strong interest in mental health, social services, and working with diverse populations.
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills for documenting client interactions.
- A valid driver license and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to meet agency standards for driving records and CORI checks.
- Bilingual Spanish and English skills are preferred.
