About the role#
The Federal Policy & Government Relations team is seeking a detail-oriented intern to support immigration advocacy work. This role involves collaborating with the government relations, advocacy, and policy teams to support outreach to policymakers, conduct research, and build organizing skills. This is a paid, full-time position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist in writing and editing immigration-related resources such as policy explainers, advocacy guides, and the weekly newsletter.
- Engage in efforts to educate the higher education and business communities about supporting undocumented individuals with and without DACA.
- Support day-to-day Federal Policy and Government Relations operations.
What you'll need#
- Dedication to the mission of FWD.us and sensitivity to issues of migration and the criminalization of impacted communities.
- Base knowledge of immigration politics, specifically regarding undocumented immigration issues.
- Proven writing ability and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments, and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in data management.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, D.C.
- Work Modality: This position requires on-site work in the Washington, D.C. office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with the potential to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays.
- Schedule: Full-time, weekdays from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, starting in early September 2026.
- Compensation: $21 per hour, plus benefits.
