About the role#
Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital offers externships and preceptorships for DVM students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career. You will work alongside our veterinary team under the supervision of a mentor doctor. We offer flexible rotations lasting between two and eight weeks, though most students choose two or three weeks. Your schedule will include days, evenings, and weekends. You will receive a $250 weekly stipend.
What you'll do#
You will participate in all aspects of patient care, including:
- Gathering patient histories
- Performing physical examinations
- Developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans
- Scrubbing in to surgery
- Assisting in medical case management
- Providing wellness care
- Developing client communication skills
- Polishing technical skills
- Producing medical records, such as SOAPs
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Current professional liability insurance
- Professional behavior and attire consistent with our team standards
Location & details#
This program is based in Wildwood, Missouri. It is an on-site, full-time opportunity with rolling start dates. You will be assigned a mentor to help meet your educational goals and receive a written evaluation of your performance at the end of your rotation.
