    About the role#

    This position is for a Research and Development Engineering Associate to join our team in Kitchener. You will support the research, development, and manufacturing of our proprietary sensor modules. This role involves working across the R&D team to design, execute, and improve sensor-related processes while assisting our clinical, quality, and manufacturing groups.

    What you'll do#

    • Design, improve, and test sensor-related processes for current and future products.
    • Plan and carry out experimental procedures for research projects.
    • Analyze, document, and present R&D data to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of sensor issues.
    • Write, update, and execute verification and validation tests while following quality management practices.
    • Propose new sensor technologies and assess their feasibility for integration.
    • Plan and conduct prototype builds, functional testing, and verification activities.
    • Provide support to internal R&D and manufacturing teams as needed.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering program.
    • Ability to manage your own tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
    • Experience with scripting and signal processing in Python.
    • Proficiency in mechanical design of fixtures and jigs using industry-standard tools.
    • Experience with electronic system operation, troubleshooting, and development.
    • Familiarity with embedded systems design and testing methodologies.
    • Research experience including design of experiments, report generation, and technical presentation.
    • Biosensor-specific research experience.
    • Familiarity with ISO 13485 or similar Quality Management Systems.
    • A curious nature with high attention to detail.
    • Ability to switch between rapid prototyping and scientifically rigorous mindsets.

    • Modality: On-site.
    • Status: Full-time, paid.
    • Eligibility: You must be a current student in a Canadian post-secondary program, hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status, and have a scheduled co-op term.
