About the role#
The Service Technician Co-Op program offers hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, mechanical systems, or HVAC trades. You will work alongside experienced technicians to learn the fundamentals of compressed air systems, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and customer service. This program is designed as a pipeline into full-time roles upon successful completion.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of rotary screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, dryers, filters, drains, and ancillary equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and belt inspections.
- Perform basic mechanical checks and system inspections.
- Observe and assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Learn to use diagnostic tools and service documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols and PPE requirements.
- Participate in safety training and toolbox talks.
- Keep job sites and service vehicles clean and organized.
- Interact professionally with customers under supervision.
- Learn job documentation, service reports, and work order systems.
- Support warehouse and parts handling as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or recent acceptance into a technical, vocational, or community college program in Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or HVAC/Industrial Systems.
- A strong interest in hands-on mechanical work.
- Willingness to work in industrial environments.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied physical conditions.
- Basic mechanical or electrical coursework is preferred.
- Prior shop, maintenance, or trade experience is preferred.
- Strong work ethic, curiosity, and coachability are preferred.
