This internship offers engineering students hands-on experience working directly with Reliability Engineers on active mining operations. You will contribute to real engineering projects that impact the performance and reliability of large-scale Caterpillar mining equipment. This is a paid, full-time, temporary role involving a 7-days-on, 7-days-off rotation with site-based work.
What you'll do#
- Assemble drawing and job packages for trades, including mechanics, welders, and electricians.
- Perform site safety inspections and quality assurance checks.
- Create daily progress reports and monitor project consumables.
- Update drawing and picture libraries.
- Assist in the production study and commissioning of assembled machinery.
- Support continuous improvement projects by identifying opportunities through data insights.
- Collaborate with technical teams, engineers, and site stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering degree program.
- Must be returning to studies following the completion of the work term.
- A strong interest in heavy equipment, mining operations, or reliability engineering.
- A basic understanding of mechanical systems, such as engines, hydraulics, and powertrains.
- A strong analytical mindset with a willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Excel considered an asset.

- Locations: Edmonton, Alberta and Calgary, Alberta.
- Work Modality: On-site with rotations in the Wood Buffalo region.
- Term: Rolling, full-time internship.
